Hello, my name is Val Barnaby and I would like to welcome you to E.S.S.A Sports Training.
I am a former Division I and professional football player and am a certified trainer. I understand what it takes to get to the next level and go beyond your “potential” because we all know “potential” will take you only so far. I started my company solely on this notion, “Live in the moment and work for the future to be successful.”
Today’s athletes must be groomed for adversity on and off the field. Obstacles and challenges in everyday life can be as daunting as those on the athletic field or court. Our goal is to prepare everyone to face all aspects of life head on with strength and determination and come through victorious.
My staff and I spend time educating each individual client on proper technique whether you are one-on-one or in a group setting.

MEET THE OWNER
Val is not your typical football athlete who started at a young age and played his whole life. He played many years of soccer before ever stepping onto a football field. Once he decided to switch sports in high school, he made a fast name for himself through his work ethic, dedication, and drive. He determined to make the best of every bad situation and turn every good situation great. He was a three sport athlete at Franklin High School where he played four years of football and basketball and two years of track. He earned a full scholarship to Rutgers University where he later distinguished himself. Before heading to Rutgers, he attended Kents Hill College Prep School in Maine for a year. That year of prep taught Val the essence of survival and independence. He learned that there is more to the world than what we see every day in our own home towns. This life lesson he took with him to Rutgers University and has never looked back. His mantra was academics first, athletics second. “I made a promise to my mother that I will not leave college without my degree.” He fulfilled his promise to his mother and still believes in this mantra today. “It is my mission to help todays student athlete be tomorrows successful adult.”

We want to increase your explosiveness through a variety of strength exercises and plyometrics.

We know that every athlete wants to be bigger, faster, stronger. Our strength program focuses on every sport. Each sport has its own specific strength program where the results are proven.
S = Speed
We approach increased speed by increasing strength and flexibility.
A = Agility
Every athlete needs agility, no matter the sport, no matter the playing surface. Understanding how to change direction, alter your balance, use your core, channel your strength, and maximize your flexibility is what defines your performance.
